Juventus turning point: Allegri towards renewal. With Calafiori and Koopmeiners in addition

The coach and management are already planning next season. Younger team thanks to fresh additions like Djaló and Alcaraz. Sudakov could be next

Massimiliano Allegri will certainly be happy: given his passion for tennis, he will be able to take advantage of the purchase of Carlos Alcaraz to have fun in doubles. Jokes aside, no one can have any doubts about the current mood of the Juventus coach: net of the draw with Empoli, his Juventus is preparing to face Inter with the possibility of overtaking them by winning the direct clash (even if the Nerazzurri they have a game to make up because of the Super Cup). Few would have bet on a Lady in full contention for the title at the beginning of February after the previous unfortunate year. Instead, the Bianconeri are holding their own against a team that is progressing at a frenetic pace and what’s more, they are in the semi-finals of the Italian Cup. The return to the Champions League, the objective set by the club in the summer, is not yet in the safe but almost and at this point it would take a cataclysm to fail to qualify for the Europe that counts. The mood has completely changed compared to a year ago and now at Continassa there is satisfaction with the results and the coach’s work, so much so that next season is already being planned: the arrivals of Tiago Dialó and Alcaraz in January despite the difficulties economic conditions and the limits imposed by the liquidity index go in this direction. Juve wants to build a European-level, young and enterprising team with Max — whose contract expires in 2025 — still at the helm. From tonight at 8pm, when the winter transfer window closes, we will start working on the future, with some names already in our sights: Teun Koopmeiners, Riccardo Calafiori and always keep an eye on Georgiy Sudakov.

the last reinforcement

From today Allegri will also be able to count on the reinforcement in midfield which at a certain point seemed like it would no longer arrive. After Atletico’s turnaround for Moise Kean, who barring last-minute surprises will remain in black and white, everything had become more complex and instead Cristiano Giuntoli managed to pull the classic rabbit out of the hat. Alcaraz is a young player (21 years old) who Allegri will be able to evaluate in these months and decide whether it is worth buying him out or not. The namesake of the Spanish tennis player (who however knows more about music than rackets) makes it possible to at least partially fill the hole left by the disqualifications of Pogba (suspended for doping) and Fagioli (betting). A low cost solution (he will arrive on loan) to extend the coverage in the middle of the pitch, where a flu or disqualification is enough for it to become short.

the contract of max

Allegri was good at reuniting the group and rebuilding a winning mentality. At Continassa there is an awareness of Inter’s great strength but also the desire to try to do something extraordinary like win the scudetto. The impossible that becomes possible, as per Max’s statements. However, if he doesn’t succeed, the season will still be evaluated positively with the placement in the Champions League, even more so if in addition to that a trophy also arrives. As for the future of the coach, any discussion will be addressed in the spring, when the contours of the current year will be much more defined. It is unlikely that Juventus will start 2024-25 with a coach whose contract is expiring, Allegri will certainly sit at a possible negotiation table for the renewal with more force than a summer ago, when his second adventure in Juventus was going through the moment of greatest crisis. It is also difficult to imagine that the new Juventus management, which has among its priorities that of streamlining the wage bill, could offer him a salary similar to the current one (7 million euros net per season plus bonuses).

from koop to…

Meanwhile at Continassa they have already started planning the summer coups together with Allegri. Starting with Teun Koopmeiners, valued by Atalanta at around 45 million. The assault on the Dutchman will be financed with the sale of Soulé to the Premier League. In the middle of the pitch Giuntoli and the coach hope to be able to renew Adrien Rabiot’s contract, which expires in June. The restyling will also continue in defence, especially if indispensable offers arrive from England for one of Bremer or Gatti. After the arrival of Djaló and with Alex Sandro who will say goodbye to zero, the Bianconeri keep their antennas straight on Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori. In attack, Yildiz is considered untouchable (he will soon be secured with a new agreement), while Chiesa’s future is linked to the renewal of the contract expiring in 2025. In the event of a divorce, the Sudakov, Berardi and Zaccagni lines remain alive. While for Gudmundsson the last hours of this transfer window will be decisive: should he remain at Genoa until June, his name will come back into fashion for the Lady.
