Just like Treant, Isala makes a profit of about 8 million euros

Isala made a profit of 7.5 million euros last year. The hospital, which also has a branch in Meppel, predicts that costs will rise in the coming years.

In 2021, Isala was able to add more than 17 million euros. The healthcare institution says that this year’s figures are ‘driven by one-off results’.

Isala states that in the corona years, the priority was to continue care. Improvements that lead to a reduction in costs were put on the back burner. The commissioning of the new hospital in Meppel also has an impact on the figures. More costs were incurred due to the move and extra use of energy.

Isala writes in the annual accounts that ‘2.2 million euros have been withdrawn due to the transition from the old building in Meppel to the new construction’. In 2022, 14.8 million euros were invested in the new construction of the hospital. The former Meppeler hospital has not yet been sold.

Isala also says that there is uncertainty about ‘the further increase in purchase prices’. She notes that suppliers are dealing with scarcity and passing on rising prices of raw materials to the hospital. “In addition, we also have to deal with an increase in energy costs,” writes Isala.

Treant also published its annual figures this week. It made a profit of 8.5 million euros for 2022 and also issued a profit warning for the coming years. The care group pointed to rising purchase prices, higher absenteeism, rising energy costs and new collective labor agreements.
