Jurriën Timber leaves Ajax for forty million euros for Arsenal

After the news had been in the air for some time, Ajax says goodbye to Jurriën Timber. The central defender continues his career at Arsenal. The international is reportedly making the switch to London for around 40 million euros.

Timber has thus achieved his desired transfer. Last summer, the born Utrechter ignored an offer from Manchester United and deliberately chose to stay in Amsterdam for an extra year. Arsenal and Timber soon broke up with each other and now Ajax has also agreed to the transfer.

At Arsenal, Timber will compete for the position of right center back and right back. The club from north London finished second in the Premier League behind Manchester City last season.

Timber still had a contract with Ajax until mid-2025. Due to some bonuses, the transfer fee can still rise to an amount of 45 million euros. Timber made his debut in Ajax’s first team in 2020 and played 121 matches in the main squad.
