Jumbo-Visma puts an end to speculation about top sprinter Olav Kooij | with a hilarious video Cycling

Olav Kooij will remain with Jumbo-Visma, the Dutch cycling team announced on Wednesday morning. There were rumors that the sprinter from Numansdorp would leave the team to work elsewhere, but the team puts an end to those speculations with a funny video.

You can see that Tour winner Jonas Vingegaard and Christophe Laporte record a farewell video. ,,Olav, friend”, begins Vingegaard. ,,I enjoyed our time together, especially in Paris-Nice this year. I still see you walking into our training camp in Alicante as a young boy. textbooks with you. In recent years you have developed yourself so quickly, you are now really one of the best sprinters in the world. But all good things must come to an end. Farewell my friend.”

Laporte also has something to say. ,,I get a bad feeling that I have to sprint against you in the future. Be nice to us. Good luck with your new adventure,” says the Frenchman, who hopes to go for stage victories in the Tour de France. But then sports director Merijn Zeeman comes into the picture. “Guys, what are you doing?” Vingegaard explains that they are recording a video to say goodbye to Kooij. “Olav? Olav is not going anywhere”, Zeeman puts an end to the rumours. And then the monkey comes out of the sleeve: Kooij has extended his contract up to and including 2025.

Olav Kooy

Kooij transferred from the Jumbo-Visma training team to the professional team at the beginning of 2021. He has now become one of the fastest men in the peloton. This year he won a stage in Paris-Nice and recently won the ZLM Tour for the second year in a row.

The 21-year-old talent has not yet ridden a big round, which is why there were rumors that he would make the switch to another team in order to be able to drive more for his own chances in big races.
