FC Velsenoord is more than just a football club: “We are a huge social point, really a benchmark in the village.” Velsen-Noord has been thinned out enormously in terms of such possibilities. There were four pubs, now only one.” It is one of the reasons why the booklet on the occasion of the 100-year club existence in Velsen-Noord is selling like hot cakes.
If it continues to sell at this rate, it will even need a second printing of the booklet: “We’ve had 200 requests, at a print of 250. And we know we’re still missing some people who probably want it too. So there is a chance that we will have to print more,” says Eric Goedhart, of the 100 years of Velsenoord committee.
