All in all, Jordi Cruijff had an excellent playing career, but it was nowhere near that of his father. “He also has some of the football qualities of my wife Danny, and they are nothing to write home about,” Johan Cruijff once said about his son’s football qualities.
Various functions around the world
After his time as a footballer, Jordi Cruijff held several positions. For example, he was technical director at AEK Larnaca (2010-2012) in Cyprus and at Maccabi Tel Aviv (2012-2017) in Israel.
He was also a trainer in very different places all over the world. Maccabi Tel Aviv (2017-2018), Chongqing (2017-2018) in China, Ecuador (2020), Shenzhen (2020-2021) in China are on Cruijff’s CV.
Cruijff’s last position was at the Indonesian Football Association. There he was a technical advisor. Now he returns to the club where he started playing football. He will succeed technical director Alex Kroes, who showed solidarity with the now dismissed trainer John Heitinga.
The first thing Cruijff will do is find a new trainer. Rumor has it that he wants to bring Spanish coach Míchel to Ajax. Míchel is now coach of Girona.
