Life with a rock star is anything but easy. That is why marriages with musicians usually don’t last too long. It is different with Jon Bon Jovi, who will soon celebrate the 35th anniversary of his wedding with Dorothea Rose Hurley. Both exchanged the rings in 1989 in the Graceland chapel in Las Vegas.

However, the singer of Bon Jovi, above all, attributes that the relationship that four children produced kept.

“There is all these wonderful clichés of rock star life,” the 62-year-old told the British
“Independent”. “It should be about never saying that you are a saint, but also not to be so stupid to destroy family life.” He was certainly not a saint, he indicates.

Mutual admiration and the happiness of “grew up together”, but Bon Jovi suspects as the secret recipe of his long marriage. This was the only way to survive all the exams of the time. However, Dorothea’s tolerance was more important, which had to endure a lot over the years. The musician did not want to give details.

Bon Jovi worked hard for their success

A little longer than his marriage keeps the connection with his band. Four decades to be precise. This was not just about tolerance to take each other as you are (which was not always so easy), but also about hard work.

“There were certainly more talented boys that could be found in every corner pub,” said Bon Jovi of the dpa. “But we had the job setting. I focused on 40 years to make it, not even, but over and over again”.

The documentary series “Thank you goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” (from April 26th at Disney+) traces the history of the band from the first pub appearances in New Jersey to the stadiums of the world. The success of Bruce Springsteen also helped, which is why it was specifically searched for in New Jersey for similar musicians. Like the boss, Bon Jovi comes from a family of workers.

On June 7, 2024, Bon Jovi will publish her new album “Forever”. Meanwhile, the singer fights with vocal cord problems, which questions the band’s live future.
