Bad Bunny shortly before a historical appearance: as the first artist, he will only perform in Spanish at the Super Bowl. But Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski announced that ICE agents will be present at the national event.

Lewandowski threatens mass deportation

In an interview for Benny Johnson’s series “The Benny Show”, Lewandowski was asked whether “ICE will take part in the Super Bowl for Bad Bunny”. His answer: “There is no safe port for people who are illegally in this country. Not at the Super Bowl and nowhere.”

He added: “We will find you, we will arrest you, we will bring you to a detention center and we will deport you. This is a very real situation under this government, completely different than before.”

At the same time, Lewandowski called Bunnys “shameful” as a half-time show act and accused him of “hate America”. Instead, there are “great bands and entertainers that could occur”.

“If there are illegal immigrants, it doesn’t matter whether it is a concert by Johnny Smith or Bad Bunny or someone else – we will take part everywhere because we want to make Americans safe,” said Lewandowski. “This is a directive of the president. If you are illegal in this country, you will do yourself a favor: go home.”

Bad Bunny stays successful – despite the boycott of the United States

Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most successful artists. From 2020 to 2022 he was the most streamed musician on Spotify, his album “Un Verdo Sin Ti” is the most streaming album in platform history. Several songs on his current album “Debí Tirar Más Photos” achieved 2025th place at Billboard Hot 100, Apple Music and Spotify. In addition, the album on Sunday was the first of 2025 to cross the Seven billion Spotify stream brand.

Before the announcement of his appearance at the Super Bowl 2026, Bunny explained why he excluded the continental USA from his world tour: the reason is the mass deportations of the Trump government that specifically hit Latinos.

“There were many reasons why I didn’t appear in the USA, and none of them were hate – I’ve played there many times,” said Bunny. “All shows were successful, everyone was great.”

Fear of ICE controls

The singer added: “But there was the problem that Fucking Ice could stand outside of my concerts. We spoke a lot about that and were seriously worried.”

As expected, the announcement of his Super Bowl appearance triggered an outcry in the Maga scene. But whether conservative voices agree or not: Bad Bunny remains one of the most popular artists worldwide – and his appearance on the nation’s largest stage should only continue to consolidate his record -breaking status.
