In the vicinity of the upcoming Marvel film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, the signs are condensed that actor John Malkovich is no longer part of the final cut. An updated trailer, a shortened term and new press releases indicate changes shortly before publication.

Strikingly shortened term
A few days ago, the US cinema chain AMC had corrected the film of the film to 115 minutes. Previously, a length of 130 minutes was given there. Other American cinemas also took over the new statement. Disney has now confirmed the shorter term. The final version is therefore around a quarter of an hour shorter than originally expected.
Malkovich’s name is missing
In parallel to this change, a striking detail was noticed in the latest English-language press release from Disney: the name John Malkovich, which was still listed in previous versions among the supporting actors: inside in the new “Fantastic Four” film. While Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne and Sarah Niles continue to be listed, the actor was no longer mentioned. In the German press version, on the other hand, his name can still be found, which also increases the impression of a short -term change.
In addition, Malkovich was not shown in the final trailer. In previous trailers, his figure, the exact identity of which has so far not been known, was at least briefly seen. The actor has not yet appeared in other marketing materials such as posters or press pictures.
Multiple reinterpretation of his role
Already in February, John Malkovich indicated in an interview that working on the set of “Fantastic Four” had been unusual. He spoke of several screenplay versions for subsequently, in which his role was apparently reinterpreted several times.
The reduction of the term and the lack of his name in current materials suggest that Marvel may have removed his scenes. So far, official confirmation is pending. However, the changed information suggests that there were extensive adjustments to the content shortly before the theatrical release. “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” starts on July 24th in the cinemas.
