Johan Derksen also this World Cup mega hit: ‘How disappointed RTL!’

Johan Derksen and his VI colleagues are again a huge hit during this Football World Cup. Their program De Oranjewinter scores very well. “What will RTL be disappointed!”

SBS 6 is now only a success because the men of Today Inside can be seen on it. They will also keep the market share of John de Mol’s transmitter high during this World Cup. For example, 907 thousand people (19 percent market share) watched the program of Johan Derksen, René van der Gijp and Wilfred Genee yesterday.

VI remains a mega hit

It will be extremely painful for RTL to be confronted with these ratings day in and day out, writes former SBS boss Tina Nijkamp. That channel broke down the negotiations with the gentlemen a few years ago, so that they can now be seen successfully with the major competitor for years.

Tina on her ratings juice channel: “The Oranjewinter continues to score very well. VI is actually all of 2022, next to De Meilandjes, by far the most watched program on SBS 6.”

Painful confrontation

RTL can cry, thinks Tina. “I think it is a very painful confrontation every day and also very annoying for the management of RTL that they did not offer those men a few million extra after seventeen years in 2018. Those millions would have earned themselves back very easily and would also have given RTL 7 the right to exist.”

Nowadays you can no longer say that RTL 7 has a right to exist. “That channel now invariably scores very badly. Also had to do it yesterday with only 86 thousand viewers for the movie Godzilla. Ouch.”

Germany exit at #1

Germany’s elimination from the Football World Cup attracted the most attention in prime time. The match against Costa Rica was good for more than 1.8 million viewers (34 percent) on NPO 1.

The most watched alternatives were Secret Duets with 748 thousand viewers (14 percent) on RTL 4 and Het Roer Om with 548 thousand viewers (10 percent) on SBS 6.
