Florian Wirtz’s transfer keeps the football world in suspense. The DFB star probably chose Liverpool. This is surprising for ex-national coach Jogi Löw.

Former national coach Joachim Löw would have expected another career path from Florian Wirtz. The 65-year-old came unexpected that the international is apparently before a switch to Liverpool FC. Löw explained the “Sport Bild”: “Wirtz has no limit, he is definitely ripe for the next step. This feeling has been had for a long time. I just thought that he was more of a decision for Real Madrid when he goes abroad.”

From Löw’s perspective, a possible reason for a change to the “royal” would have been coach Xabi Alonso. Under him, Wirtz had developed greatly at Bayer Leverkusen. Löw describes the relationship between player and coach as very trusting – one aspect that is particularly important for young players.

The 2014 world championship coach has no doubt about Wirtz’s skills. No matter which club the 22-year-old would have chosen-Löw is convinced that the offensive man will prevail. Wirtz games with a matter of course, “which you cannot train,” said Löw.

The transfer is not yet official. Most recently, media reports had caused a stir in which Wirtz had given a rejection to FC Bayern.

Löw Wirtz also sees the central player for the national team. Together with Jamal Musiala, he launched the DFB team to a new level. The next touchstone is already waiting: On Wednesday evening, the selection of national coach Julian Nagelsmann will meet Portugal in the semi -finals of the Nations League. The impetus in Munich is at 9 p.m. (in the T-Online Live ticker).
