He went from working more than 15 years as a national police in Spain to become gastronomic influencer, touring the world in search of perfect hamburger and in a short time he managed to have more than 580 thousand followers on Instagram, 1 million in You Tube and 900 thousand in Tik Tok.
In his passage through Argentina, the Spanish Joe BurgerChallengetested more than 20 hamburgers, the Fast Food food par excellence that in recent times became a gastronomic boom, with more and more gourmet versions, far from the classic medallion of meat between two breads.
But his visit to the country also served to present his first collaboration outside of Spain. For that, Ribs joined the river and together they created the first Brisket hamburger in the country. What are his favorite hamburgers, how he turned a hobby into a lifestyle and how he manages to fit in spite of eating hamburgers of more than 2 kilos to supply his social networks with content.
News: How many years did he work as an inspector of the National Police and why did he decide to leave?
Joe BurgerChallenge: I worked 15 at the National Police in Spain. Everyone assumes that this is already your profession for a lifetime, but I had other concerns and I already started on YouTube in 2015 and I combined this with my work for more than 5 years. But there came a time when the social networks became so great that I had to leave the police to dedicate myself to this and it is the best decision I have made in my life.
News: When did you realize that what seemed like a hobby, exit, try hamburgers and make videos, could it be your livelihood?
Joe BurgerChallenge: From the first day, when I participated in my first Burger Challenge in 2013 I realized that this was not just a hobby. I went to a contest to eat a 2.5kg hamburger and I realized the people’s reactions when I saw me finish the burger and the quilombo that was organized in the restaurant that organized it. My idea of entrepreneurship arose immediately. “This is a very good way to promote restaurants.” And I started with it.
News: How much can be billed per month with an influencer career in social networks?
Joe BurgerChallenge: As an influencer, if you do well, you can invoice a lot. But you have to work hard and very hard and keep it every month. But I face more money in a month now, than I billed before as a policeman in a year.
News: Why did you specialize in hamburgers?
Joe BurgerChallenge: Hamburgers is always the most popular resource to make food challenges in the United States. Where there was always a giant hamburger, or a Burger Challenge. When I began to popularize this in Spain I realized that the hamburgers with which they made the food challenges were always bad. The worst flesh and the worst bread, and began to make myself demanding. If I’m going to have to eat 3 kilos of hamburger, I want it to be of the best quality.
News: Recently he was in Buenos Aires, where he presented his first creation in Argentina, along with Ribs to the river, how did the proposal come about?
Joe BurgerChallenge: I met the Ribs team to the river last year, because they called me to be a jury of a contest. They had never had a burger in a letter and began to consider that the day they launched their burger, it had to be something very special. And they wanted to count on me and my knowledge internationally. Knowing that the influence of the quality used in products in Spain is very important. I loved the idea. I have worked with 100 hamburger in Spain, but I had never done it outside my country. So the proposal seemed a very interesting challenge.
News: In his passage through Argentina he toured many hamburgers, more than 20, can he say what his favorite was? In addition to yours, of course.
Joe BurgerChallenge: I cannot say that the hamburger we have created is the best because I do not like to attribute to me the praise, or place myself above the rest. I always learn from everyone. My hamburger in Ribs to the river is excellent and we have worked very hard on it and corrected many mistakes, but if I have to choose one that I consider the best, I will give you two names, John John Burger and The Flour Store I think they are the best I have tried in Argentina to date.
News: Does the Argentine have a good gastronomic culture with regard to the world of hamburgers?
Joe BurgerChallenge: There is very good gastronomic culture in Argentina regarding hamburgers. Although it is true that, unlike Spain, Argentines dare to innovate, create and risk. But there are very good hamburgers.
News: What is the place in the world where you tried the best dish?
Joe BurgerChallenge: In addition to the hamburgers, world hamburger culture I like many things. The street tacos of Mexico, Texas Ahumado Brisket, Macarrones with Wisconsin cheese or Naples pizzas.
News: At your home?
Joe BurgerChallenge: I don’t cook. Never. Absolutely nothing. I don’t like to cook or be a cook. I like to eat.
News: Despite eating a lot and very well, it also has a demanding exercise routine, can you tell us a little more about that?
Joe BurgerChallenge: To maintain the shape there are two keys: weights and fasting. I go to the gym almost every day to make calm weights of weights. No aerobic and without too much weight. But constant. And then I do many hours of fasting when I don’t have to record the food.
News: What is the next for your career?
Joe BurgerChallenge: The next thing in my career is to start working as an actor. I have been training for many years and I have already released my first play in Spain. Now I hope to introduce myself to castings and auditions to start throwing my career as an actor.
News: Do you miss life as a police inspector?
Joe BurgerChallenge: I do not miss anything at all my life as a police inspector. I practically do not remember her.
