As soon as the game between BVB and Lille started, it was interrupted again. This is the reason.

The Champions League game between OSC Lille and Borussia Dortmund was interrupted after eight minutes for a drinking break because of the fasting month of Ramadan. Because the sun went down on Wednesday shortly after the start of the game, referee Sandro Schärer granted professionals the opportunity to eat for around 60 seconds.

“This is a very, very important sign to approve this break. This is often underestimated, but the boys are so important for the boys. You should take this into account,” said TV expert Tobias Schweinsteiger at DAZN.

Trainer Niko Kovač had previously mentioned that the Ramadan played a role in the list “of course”. In the game, full -back Ramy Bensebaini was not called up in the game. “We as a trainer, of course, support this. I think it’s good. But we have to look at the fact that we put the boys on the pitch who have the necessary strength,” said Kovač.

During the Ramadan, believing Muslims do without food, drink, smoking and sexual activities every day from dawn to sunset. In the evening, people traditionally come together to break fasting. Fasting in Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam – the basic obligations of religion. After the fasting month, the multi -day festival of fasting or sugar festival follows.
