Basketball Bundesliga club Veolia Towers Hamburg has to do without his Forward Niklas Wimberg for several months.

As the club announced on Tuesday, the 29-year-old broke the ring finger of the left hand in a friendly in the season preparation. Wimberg is to be operated on on Wednesday.

Wimberg had already failed for around three months last year due to a broken leg.

“Niklas started in the season preparation in a strong constitution, presented himself as an important point of contact for our newcomers. I am so sorry for him that, as in the past season, he will miss almost the complete preparation and the start of the season,” said Marvin Willoughby, Managing Director Sport of Veolia Towers.

The Veolia Towers Hamburg ended the last season in 13th place in the Basketball Bundesliga. The new season begins on September 26th.
