Almost 30 years ago, Puma and Jil Sander joined forces for the first time. Now we are collaborating again on a football sneaker, which marks the start of a longer-term collaboration.
The luxury brand with German origins is reinterpreting the iconic Puma model ‘King Avanti’, the cooperation partners announced on Tuesday. This follows on from the first cooperation from 1998. Back then, Jil Sander transformed one of these shoes from the Herzogenaurach sportswear manufacturer into a luxury leather sneaker.
The current collaboration also results in a sneaker made of high-quality leather with the golden ‘Jil Sander’ lettering on the side. The Puma and Jil Sander logos are also placed on the outside and inside of the tongue.
With this, Jil Sander’s creative director Simone Bellotti is not only reviving a special collaboration, he is also following the fashion world’s enthusiasm for football, which, after the hype about jerseys, is now increasingly focused on shoes.
The ‘Puma x Jil Sander King Avanti’ is available in selected Jil Sander stores and online in navy blue for 480 euros. The brands are now starting an ongoing collaboration program that will produce its next drop in March.
