Jérôme Boateng’s lightning return confirmed

Is things going very quickly between Jérôme Boateng and FC Bayern now? The central defender returned to Säbener Straße on Sunday.

FC Bayern confirmed corresponding media reports that Boateng took part in substitute training on Sunday. As the club further announced, the 2014 world champion should also train in the coming days.

On Saturday, “Sky” initially reported that the German record champions were interested in a return campaign. Further details would probably have to be clarified between FC Bayern and Boateng before a contract is signed. The first discussions are said to have already taken place.

Boateng had already played for Munich between 2011 and 2021.

Rumors about a move to Real Madrid

The 35-year-old then moved to Olympique Lyon in France. Boateng has been without a club since this summer and is therefore available for free.

Most recently, the Catalan online newspaper “El Nacional” claimed that the central defender had personally spoken to Real Madrid.

“I didn’t know that, interesting,” Boateng then commented on the rumor in his Instagram story on Friday.

FC Bayern’s defense is sparse

Instead of the Spanish capital, the trail now leads to FC Bayern. The Bundesliga club currently has personnel concerns in defense.

With Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt and Minjae Kim, there are only three experienced central defenders in the series champions’ squad. The trio recently had to struggle with injuries. The German industry leader recently had to play with Leon Goretzka and Noussair Mazraoui in the middle of defense in the DFB Cup against third division team Preußen Münster (4-0). The club is still missing De Ligt.

FC Bayern gave up Benjamin Pavard (Inter) and Lucas Hernández (Paris Saint-Germain) in the last transfer period.
