The most interesting game of the day
In Sunday’s only match in the Premier League, lower middle class teams Nottingham and Brentford meet. Nottingham is currently twelfth in the league with seven points and Brentford, who finished ninth last season, is fourteenth with six points.
The points achieved by the teams correspond very well to their game performances and expected points.
Nottingham’s early season schedule has been rather special, as it has played at home only twice so far and faced Sheffield United and Burnley, who belong to the bottom of the series, in the matches.
Correspondingly, away from home, Nottingham has had a difficult start to the series, as they have already faced Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.
The team is undefeated at home, but its true level is not necessarily clear yet. Today’s match against Brentford shows Nottingham’s home game strength against a team of roughly their own level.
Last season’s number one striker has been marked through Brentford Ivan Toney intervention. Toney, who scored no fewer than 20 goals for his team in the Premier League last season, was banned for eight months in the spring for violating the Premier League’s betting rules.
