Robin van Persie has been fired from Feyenoord. The 42-year-old club icon still had a contract until mid-2027, but the new club management immediately terminated it.

The new technical director Dévy Rigaux loved it last week during a press conference already a blow about the future of the trainer. “We are going to make an analysis of the past season and only then will we make decisions.”

That decision has now been made. After 58 games, it ends for Van Persie at Feyenoord. He took over from Brian Priske in February 2025. Last season Feyenoord secured a Champions League ticket by finishing second in the Premier League.

Yet the new club management intervenes. Feyenoord’s new directors, Rigaux and general manager Robert Eenhoorn, have been busy analyzing the past year.

Van Persie hoped to continue as a trainer after winning a Champions League ticket, but the management is taking a different course and is looking for a new trainer. This season, Feyenoord already failed in the competition phase in the Europa League.

Neither the club nor Van Persie have yet released a response.
