Ex-Bayern professional Jérôme Boateng ends his career as a professional footballer. The defender announced this on Instagram.

Jérôme Boateng puts an end. The 2014 world champion announced his end of his career on Friday evening via social media. Most recently, the 37-year-old played for the Linz ASK in Austria and recently resolved his contract.

He announced his farewell with a video together of his career stations on Instagram. In it he says in English: “I played for a long time, for big clubs, for my country. I learned, won and lost. Football gave me a lot. Now it is time to go on. Not because I am ready. I’m grateful for everything.”

He wrote about the post: “Family. Friends. Fans. It’s time.”

The defender experienced his most successful time with FC Bayern, for whom he ran between 2012 and 2021. He celebrated a total of nine championship titles, five cup wins and two Champions League titles with the Munich.
