Jeroen Pauw deliberately wears a scarf in his talk show to arouse irritation among his guests, says TV expert Rob Goossens. “Aggravated people abandon all media training.”

Pauw & De Wit’s viewing figures are doing well, which is quite surprising after the flop of Bar Laat. The hosts benefit from the failure of RTL Tonight and the fact that the elections are almost coming. According to TV expert Rob Goossens, the show works so well because the hosts can pause at the right moments.

Annoying scarf

However, according to Rob, there is another factor that is important: Jeroen Pauw’s scarf. “You are laughing now and I understand that very well, but that scarf: I am sure that 80 percent of the people sitting there are irritated by that scarf,” he says at the desk of RTL Boulevard against colleague Luuk Ikink.

He continues: “If you leave a silence, people tend to keep talking, and annoyed people tend to abandon all media training and say what they really think. You just get better and stronger conversations in that combination.”

Jeroen’s weapon

Luuk takes it seriously. “He really uses his scarf as a weapon, do you think?”

Rob: “Yes, I think so. I think so. He’s been doing it long enough to know that those kinds of choices have an effect.”

Bridget Maasland: “I just think he put a different stylist on it.”

Rob finally: “Then he has been ill for weeks, because there are few stylists who say: ‘Well, what we are going to do today: another scarf’, right?”

Well, it sounds like Dennis Schouten has at least scored one more time at Boxing Influencers.
