Jean Paul Gaultier and stylist Lotta Volkova are launching a collaborative collection that takes the French fashion house’s couture and archival pieces and gives them a modern twist, Jean Paul Gaultier announced on Friday. These include corset lingerie, babydoll dresses and lingerie-inspired knitwear.
Iconic pieces from the house like the FW 04/05 ‘Naked Dress’, previously not available in stores, are now available in a modern version as a dress, bodysuit and bikini. Matching lacing, leather harness and cut-outs give the collection an S&M aesthetic. Also part of the collection is the iconic ‘Cone Dress’ from 1984, which is now available in a modern version as a dress, top and bra.
“When I spotted Jean Paul Gaultier and Antoine de Caunes presenting their TV show Eurotrash, that was one of the first memories I had of fashion,” Volkova said. “What struck me was the extreme eccentricity, uncompromising vision, wit and never-ending celebration of fashion, culture, music and underground cultures that all made up the extraordinary world of Jean Paul Gaultier…”
The collection is available from Friday and costs between 140 euros for a bikini top or bottom and 2400 euros for a dress.
