Jan Slagter slaughtered at men of VI: ‘Look at yourself, idiot!’

Jan Slagter has been dealt with very hard in De Oranjewinter, the World Cup version of Today Inside. He was portrayed there by columnist Marcel van Roosmalen as an ‘idiot’. “Look at your own target group!”

Jan Slagter, the director of Omroep MAX, has been in the news frequently in the past week because he is extremely active in defending two bad broadcasting colleagues: Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and Frans Klein. “The Matthijs van Nieuwkerk affair has stung him to the head,” says Marcel van Roosmalen in his column in De Oranjewinter.

Fire arrow

Marcel thinks that Jan behaves like an angry old man. “It’s like holding a lighter under a flare.”

He continues: “The pleasant elderly friend who tries to extort memberships from our parents and grandparents has made way for a furious Furby, because his friend Frans Klein, the all-determining figure at the NPO, has temporarily put himself on the sidelines.”

‘Idiot!’

It bothers Marcel that Jan looks down on the target group of Today Inside. “Look at your target audience, idiot, with your MAX Memory Trainer and your Big Little Trains Competition.”

He continues: “Officially, the NPO wants nothing more than to please young people, but in the meantime they have been facilitating for years a boomer who unleashes all kinds of infantile elderly programs on us and has decided for himself that he adds something important to society. That is of course not the case.”

Simple entertainment

MAX’s programs aren’t that great. “It is simple entertainment that you can easily present to care home clients.”

And how does he describe Jan? “He is the Gordon Ramsay of the NPO.”
