In dialogue with Pablo Rossi by A24, Jaime Durán Barba, the former Guru of Mauricio Macri, analyzed the crisis of the ruling after the corruption scandal and the defeat in Buenos Aires. He pointed out campaign errors, warned about the difficulty of reversing the fall and said people expect a president with good feelings.

The renowned political consultant Jaime Durán Barba reappeared on the Argentine scene, this time in dialogue with the journalist Pablo Rossi on Channel A24. From his experience in campaigns in the region, he warned that Javier Milei’s government is going through a critical situation after the impact of the corruption scandal and electoral defeat in the province of Buenos Aires.

“As things are the government is very bad, it will have a bad choice for two things. The first: I have lived similar circumstances in several countries. When a government begins to crumble and does not have an adequate defense strategy before falling into the slogan, then it is very difficult to stop the fall. Produce the inflection so that those who are falling stop and begin to get on I know if they will be able to do it, ”he said.

Durán Barba questioned the strategic mistakes committed in the campaign and valued Santiago Caputo’s return to the communication strategy, although he stressed that his reappearance is late. For the consultant, what is needed is a deep change from the president himself.

In that sense, he remarked that Milei has faced sensitive issues that are not resolved with technicalities, but with empathy. “Milei has had the problem of facing some issues that reach the heart, not to the head. That they take away the silver to the disabled, is a theme of the heart. The controversy that there was with the autistic child and his mother is a barbarity: it takes votes for quantities because people want a president with good feelings: towards the retirees, the poor, the disabled.”

The diagnosis of Durán Barba is lapidary: to stop the fall it does not reach with communication touch -ups, but a change in the way in which Milei himself is shown and linked to society is necessary. “People want a president with good feelings … You have to show it,” he said, in a definition that seeks to emphasize the emotional dimension of politics.
