Jado Borsato is annoyed by critics like Angela de Jong who are still very much in favor of her father Marco Borsato. “Then I almost think: huh? Have you listened to everything that was discussed?”
In terms of public opinion, the indecent case against Marco Borsato is very different from that against Ali B and Thijs Römer. While the latter gentlemen were clearly slaughtered by the masses, many people with Marco have the feeling that he was listened to by the mother of his alleged victim. She was fired as chairman of his fan club.
‘Marco pervert’
Angela de Jong does not belong to the camp that has doubts. She thinks Marco is a pervert and calls the situation he was in ‘moronic’. “It’s so bizarre. It’s disgusting and surreal,” she said in the AD Media Podcast.
“The images that Marco Borsato sketches of that face, naked wallpaper and the habit of waving him goodbye with seven members with all their breasts exposed, including the girl who accuses him, and other such idiotic details. And that is the country’s greatest artist we have had.”
‘Just nasty’
According to Angela, Marco is a greaser. “It’s just disgusting. You’re a grown man, you’re asked if you want to comfort a 15-year-old girl who you know is naked in bed and you sit next to her? Someone who is not your daughter. Sorry, but then you turn around and leave? You’re not going upstairs, come on!”
She also points to the apps in which Marco advised his victim to satisfy himself. “This is Thijs Römer, right? The image I had of Marco Borsato, who had already suffered a serious blow over the past four years, is now completely gone. Whether he is guilty or not: it will never be the same again. I think he is a very pathetic man.”
What does Jada think?
De Weekend asks Marco’s daughter Jada Borsato what she thinks about this kind of criticism. “You have been used to judging your father for four years before the case started. What is the impact now if people continue to talk so negatively about your father after the lawsuit?”
She then says: “Then I almost think: huh?! Have you listened to everything that has been discussed? Because if you still – and that is my opinion – think he is guilty, I have the feeling that you have not followed the trial. I think it is all very clear how it actually works.”
Innocence
Marco is clearly innocent, according to Jada. “I am therefore happy that he has now been allowed to have his say, so that I can finally make it clear to people why we have stood behind him all these years. Why we believe in his innocence, because there are so many good reasons for this. I have never been allowed to talk about that.”
“You’ve seen it, there is no hard evidence. I think the reason we believe in his innocence is very logical and he has made that very clear in court. And if the rest want to have an opinion or make a judgment about it, I will leave that to them.”
