Ittrich on a penalty in Munich: “Handball not recognized”

Munich (AP) – Referee Patrick Ittrich once again commented on the penalty whistle with video delay in the Bundesliga home game of FC Bayern Munich against FC Augsburg.

“Unfortunately, a handball was not recognized on the field, which, according to the pictures and intervention by the VAR, is clear due to the increase in body area,” wrote Ittrich on social networks. “My aim is always to make the right decisions on the field. That doesn’t always work out and you have to keep working on yourself.”

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl freaked out on the sidelines after the penalty kick. Then Ittrich explained to him in a conversation the reason for his rethinking according to the TV pictures. Goalscorer Robert Lewandowski converted the penalty for FC Bayern in the 82nd minute. “He can pass it. The ball goes in the direction of the goal and to the hand,” Weinzierl described the decisive scene in the late 0-1 with his defender Reece Oxford, whose outstretched arm was hit by the ball.
