Most users only know the WhatsApp messenger service as an app on their smartphone. However, the application can also be easily used on the PC. You just have to know how it works.

If you’re sitting in front of the computer screen, constantly looking at your smartphone can be a bit annoying. You constantly have to turn away from the actual activity and pick up your smartphone to check incoming messages on your cell phone. This problem can be solved with WhatsApp Web. The service projects the view onto the computer and allows the user to control it with a mouse and keyboard. This means that messages can be easily read and written on the PC. Reaching for your smartphone is a thing of the past – it just needs to have an active internet connection so that messages can arrive.

WhatsApp on the computer

There are two ways to use WhatsApp on Windows PC or Mac. The first variant works via the Internet browser by accessing the “WhatsApp Web” page online. This displays a QR code that must be scanned with the smartphone. To do this, open the mobile phone app and click on the three dots or the small wheel in the upper right corner of the application, depending on whether you are using an Android device or iPhone. The “WhatsApp Web” option then appears. This activates the camera and the QR code can be scanned. After successful pairing, you can use the service via your computer.
Downloading a desktop app is the second option. It can be downloaded either from the WhatsApp website or from the Apple App Store. However, the procedure hardly differs from the first variant. After downloading the app, open it and a QR code will appear. Scanning works in the same way as WhatsApp Web. Both devices are then synchronized and the application can be controlled via the computer.

Log out of WhatsApp Web again

The smartphone app is required to log out. You have to click again on the three dots or the small wheel in the upper right corner and select the “WhatsApp Web” tab. However, a scanner no longer opens, but rather a display of the paired devices. It is theoretically possible to sync the phone with multiple computers. However, only one connection can actually be used. The rest fall into a kind of holding pattern. Using the “Log out from all devices” field, all interactions are ended again and the app can only be used on your own smartphone.
