After a bad training in Chile, the Italian ski racer Matteo Franzoso died. This was announced by the Italian association Fisi.
Franzoso had a hard time on Saturday, three days before his 26th birthday in a jump, had broken two safety nets and crashed into a fence.
After delivery to a clinic in Santiago de Chile, he was put into the artificial coma. However, the doctors could not save the life of the winter athlete. “This is a tragedy for his family and for our sport,” said Italy’s association president Flavio Roda in the message.
Franzoso started the World Cup for the first time in December 2021. Since then he has had it in departure and Super-G on 17 elite missions, twice he drove under the top 30. With the top Italian drivers around Dominik Paris, Franzoso had prepared for the new season in the La Parva ski area near Santiago de Chile.
