After Roland Virkus’s resignation, Borussia Mönchengladbach is looking for a new manager. Now it is clear: Nils-Ole Book will not.
Uncertained times at Borussia Mönchengladbach: The Bundesliga club currently has no managing director of sports and also no head coach. After the separation from coach Gerardo Seoane in mid -September and the resignation of manager Roland Virkus in the early week, the situation with the “foal” is fragile. Interim coach Eugen Polanski leads the fortunes of the bottom of the table.
Managing Director Stefan Stegemann now made it clear that the current search focuses on a new manager. “The first stone to fall is the new sporting director. We want to find it promptly. The coaching question remains open until then,” said Stegemann of the “Rheinische Post”. “But if that takes longer and we see good developments, it may not stay open for so long,” added the 61-year-old.
It is clear in any case: Nils-Ole Book is not Roland Virkus’ successor. The sports director of SV Elversberg, which has been associated with Gladbach for months, has extended his contract in Saarland. Book was considered a possible sports director under the sports director Virkus. When Virkus then announced his resignation, Book was initially considered a possible successor.
On Wednesday, Elversberg announced that Book would stay. “A connection has arisen and mutual trust has grown, which I really appreciate and what is a prerequisite for me for a common and successful future,” said the 39-year-old.
But who will be the new sports director at the Borussia Park? According to reports, Jonas Boldt (formerly Hamburger SV, Bayer Leverkusen) is considered a candidate. However, there is still no publicly commented option. One thing is clear: a successor should be as soon as possible.
