Hamas says that Israel has terminated the truce that has been in place since January 19. This step has consequences for the hostages that are held in the Palestinian area, Hamas reports. Israel indicates that it has started with the air strikes because Hamas refused to release the hostages.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has therefore commissioned the army to perform air strikes on various goals of Hamas. The death toll has since risen to more than 100, reports al jazeera. On X Let the Israeli Prime Minister know that Israel “from now on will occur with more military force” against Hamas.
‘Ports of hell’
In a statement, the Israeli Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, warns that “the gates of hell will open in Gaza” and that Hamas will “feel a power that it has never felt before” if it does not release the remaining 59 hostages.
“Tonight we started the fight in Gaza again because of Hamas’ refusal to release the hostages and because of the threat of damaging IDF soldiers and Israeli communities,” says Katz. “We will not stop fighting until all hostages return home and all war goals have been achieved,” he adds.
Custody
The first phase of the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel started on January 19 and ended after six weeks without the second phase entering. Hamas sticks to the original conditions of the agreement. In the second phase of the file, Israel would completely withdraw from Gaza and agree to end the war permanently in exchange for the release of the remaining hostages.
Although Israel signed these conditions in January, Prime Minister Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that Israel will only end the war if Hamas’ military and administrative power will be completely destroyed.
Although Israel phase two of the ceasefire did not want to accept, the ceasefire remained in force for about two and a half weeks after the end of phase one, while mediators tried to find new conditions for an extension.
