Damur Huang, a Taiwanese designer, is the creative heart behind #damur. Growing up in Taipei, he discovered his passion for fashion early on and studied textile and clothing technology at the FU Jen Catholic University. He then refined his design skills at the renowned Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts and to La Cambre-Mode[s] in Brussels. Before he founded his own brand, he gained valuable experiences with well -known labels such as Alexander McQueen and Tim van Steenbergen. In 2015 he finally founded #damur in Berlin. The studio is located in the creative district of Kreuzberg, where all production steps – from digital design to the final processing – take place.

Fashionunited asked him about his experiences in the cooperation to obtain interns: inside for #damur.

Fashionunited: Can you tell us something about the beginnings of your brand?

#Damur: A fashion brand was not a single performance from the start. I quickly realized that cooperation – whether in your own team or with external partners: inside – is essential.

Fashionunited: Where did everything for #damur started?

#Damur: I remember very exactly how I started #damur in my apartment in Berlin-Mitte (10115). It was a modest beginning, but full of energy and vision. In 2017 I had the opportunity to move to our today’s studio and office in Kreuzberg (10999). That was a big step for us.

Fashionunited: Did you start working with fashionunited at this time?

#Damur: Yes, around the time I started using the services of fashionunited to expand our team. It was a challenging but nice way – to keep the balance between business and creativity and at the same time to accompany the young generation on their way into the demanding fashion world.

Fashionunited: What role does fashionunited play in your internship program?

#Damur: A very big one. Year after year, with the support of Fashionunited, we were able to promote exceptionally talented young forces through our internship program. With the growth of our company, we were also able to do better working conditions and conditions for interns: inside and employees: Creating inside.

Fashionunited: How has your internship program developed over time?

#Damur: We have developed the program further since 2023 and are now focusing on compulsory internships and Erasmus students. This ensures more structure and added value on both sides.

Fashionunited: That sounds like a big project – how many interns: do you absorb every year?

#Damur: Every year we welcome over 30 promising talents in the #Damur team. Some of them have already become an up -and -coming personalities in the fashion world, which of course makes us very happy.

Fashionunited: What does sustainability mean for you in the context of a fashion brand?

#Damur: For me, sustainability not only means environmentally friendly materials or production processes – it is also about promoting human potential and passing on knowledge. This is a central value at #damur.

Fashionunited: #damur is about to say something about the 10th anniversary-would you like to say something?

#Damur: Definitely. I would like to thank Fashionunited for continuous support. Your platform has made a significant contribution to creating a healthier and empowering work environment in the fashion industry. I am really looking forward to the further journey together.

About the brand

Founded in 2015, #damur is a high-end streetwear label based in Berlin. The brand combines the lively energy of Asian pop culture with the experimental spirit of Berlin. The designs are aimed at people who are brave, want to stand out and cannot be restricted by social norms-this is exactly what symbolizes the brand’s hashtag logo.

#Damur stands for sustainability: The collections are made from high -quality residues (Deadstock) under fair working conditions. Stylistically, the brand is known for its color -intensive, provocative and edgy designs – including oversized cuts, asymmetrical silhouettes and deconstructive elements that dissolve classic gender boundaries. Upcycling denim and strategically placed cut-outs that express a transparent form of individuality are particularly characteristic.
