With the 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Markus Begin is currently fighting for promotion to the Bundesliga. Soon he could be on the sidelines at another club.
In the second division team Schalke 04, the planning for the coming season apparently is already running – and a name focuses on: Markus Begin. According to information from the Pay TV broadcaster Sky, the trainer of the 1st FC Kaiserslautern is currently being interested in the “royal blue”.
Initially contract in the Palatinate runs until 2026, but does not contain any exit clause. If the Cologne native farewell, the FCK would probably demand a transfer between 500,000 and one million euros.
This fits: According to the report, there is dissatisfaction with the promotion candidate in the management team. The reasons are apparently diverse: recently, Kaiserslautern in the league set three defeats in a row. There was therefore the feeling of the club that the team has not developed further in the past few weeks. In addition, some statements are said to have initially caused irritation internally. Accordingly, a separation from the coach in summer is quite possible.
It is not least due to Frank Baumann that the beginning is on Schalke. The former Werder manager, who will start his duties as a new board at S04 from June, estimates the report at the beginning and is said to have already obtained all relevant information.
At Schalke, Kees van Wonderen is currently in office as head coach – for how long, but is questionable. Most recently, the coach had sharply criticized the management team after the game against HSV (2: 2) and questioned its own future in the club. A farewell to the Dutch can therefore be expected at the latest at the end of the season.
