Inter, the latest towards the match against Benfica: Skriniar and Calhanoglu out

Last session at the Pinetina tomorrow morning, it is unlikely that the two will be called up for the first leg against Benfica. Lautaro is back in attack

Nothing to do for Milan Skriniar and Hakan Calhanoglu: the Slovakian defender and the Turkish midfielder worked separately again this morning at the Pinetina, even on the pitch, and will not be available for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday at the Da Luz against Benfica. No “miracles”, no “surprises”: Inzaghi will have to go hunting for the semifinals, at least in the first of the two matches with Smith’s team, without two starters.

CHOICES

Inzaghi is oriented to replace Skriniar with Darmian and to place Dumfries in the right lane. There would also be a D’Ambrosio solution between the three behind with Darmian on the wing: in theory it’s a more defensive option, but it seems less likely. The backlog will be completed by Acerbi and Bastoni, with De Vrij who, despite the discontent highlighted on Saturday (“I was hoping to play more”), is initially destined to take a seat on the bench. In the middle of the field, however, there will be Barella, Brozovic and Mkhitaryan; Asllani, starter at Arechi, maybe he will play in the second half. Finally, on the left-handed track, Dimarco will be back in the starting lineup despite Gosens having shown that he is in good shape with the good performance from Salerno.

LAUTARO AND…

In attack, Toro will be the starter again after the bench on Saturday. There is no doubt about its use from 1′. The unknown is who will be alongside him: logic leads us to believe that Lukaku, who is clearly growing with Belgium and scored from a penalty against Juventus, deserves continued employment despite the missed goals against Fiorentina and Salernitana . In reality, the ballot between the Belgian and Dzeko is alive, with the latter appearing slightly ahead in Inzaghi’s ideas. Correa can be a weapon in the current game. Tomorrow morning last session at the Pinetina, then, after lunch, the team will leave on charter for Lisbon.
