Inter extends. The narrow victory over Juventus allows Inzaghi to move up to +4 (with a game to recover) over Allegri and also keep AC Milan at a distance, third at -8. The championship is still long, but the signal from the Nerazzurri, in the direct clash against their main rival for the Scudetto, is an important one because Lautaro and his teammates impose themselves by risking little and above all they collect another clean sheet, number 14 in 22 matchdays. Gatti’s own goal was decisive, but the goal wasted by Vlahovic at 0-0 also weighs heavily. In the end, the Meazza is bedlam and Inter, who have achieved 6 successes out of 6 in 2024, celebrate a well-deserved victory under their curve. It’s a night to remember, perhaps the night of the decisive breakthrough. Perhaps…

LOTS OF INTER, CATS… FATAL

Inzaghi is focusing on the very starting players, with Darmian preferred in Dumfries. Allegri recovers Rabiot and Chiesa, but only the Frenchman is in the starting lineup because alongside Vlahovic is the Turkish Yildiz. He plays in a sold out San Siro and with a thrilling glance. Inter started strong with Pavard’s vertical pass that found Thuram, but on the Frenchman’s cross, Gatti anticipated Mkhitaryan. The Armenian also tries a few minutes later with a shot from outside that is deflected into the corner. The plot of the film is clear: the Nerazzurri win the match and Juventus defends with all the players placed behind the ball line. The midfielders Rabiot and McKennie block when Pavard and Bastoni advance, Vlahovic presses, while Gatti, Bremer and Danilo head all the balls coming from the flanks. On the only cross that “pierced” the Juventus anti-aircraft defense, Dimarco did not make good use of Pavard’s throw and from an excellent position “slipped” the shot. The Lady thinks above all about not taking any because Yildiz isn’t on the ball and Vlahovic is a bit nervous. So it takes a fantastic closing from Bremer to get ahead of Thuram, only ahead of Szczesny after a good throw from Calhanoglu and a cross from the left from Dimarco. The pace is not high and the game goes in spurts: Juventus’ ones arrive after half an hour with two counterattacks that Vlahovic (serious mistake) and Kostic fail to materialise. Allegri almost despairs as he imagines what would happen shortly thereafter. In the 37th minute, in fact, Inter took a maneuver, with Barella’s cross for the insertion of Pavard who cut the ball back into the middle. Thuram throws himself to deflect, but the ball hits Gatti’s chest and ends up behind Szczesny: after the VAR control the Meazza explodes and Inzaghi goes ahead in the scoreline at half-time thanks to the only shot on target by both teams ( 9-2 the total of the conclusions for the Nerazzurri).

INTER RULES

Juve seems to start the second half with the same tactical attitude and instead after a few minutes the Juventus center of gravity advances. Now it’s Inter that waits and starts again. Dimarco has the ball on his foot to make it 2-0, but fails to hit the opponent’s goal with a diagonal shot from the edge. Calhanoglu, however, was unlucky as he chipped the post after Szczesny was beaten. The hosts raise the engine revs again, but the Lady with Kostic has a great opportunity to equalize which Mkhitaryan saves. However, the Juventus one was a flash because Lautaro and his teammates dribbled well and came close to the second goal three more times with Thuram, Calhanoglu and the Argentine Bull. Allegri introduces Chiesa and Weah for Yildiz and Kostic, with Cambiaso moving to the left to leave the right wing to his son of art. A shot from outside by Gatti ends up just wide, on the other side Barella’s safe volley, following a great throw from Dimarco, is answered by the Polish number one. Juventus’ first shot on target comes in the 27th minute, but Vlahovic’s shot is little more than a pass to Sommer. Inzaghi changes both wingers (Dumfries and Carlos Augusto for Darmian and Dimarco) and then spends the Arnautovic card for Thuram. The leaders watch the clock and inevitably try to manage the pace; Allegri tries everything with Alex Sandro, Miretti and the debutant Alcaraz, after Szczesny avoided the 2-0 on Arnautovic, author of a macroscopic error in front of goal. Sommer, however, is in no danger and after 5 minutes of injury time the Nerazzurri people celebrate. The championship is a little closer now.
