The Nerazzurri have landed at King Khalid airport, the semi-final against Bologna is set for Friday 19 December at 8pm Italian time

December 17 – 11.04pm – RIYADH (SAUDI ARABIA)

It’s almost midnight, desert time, when the entire Inter team emerges from the VIP gate for private flights in the large King Khalid international airport in Riyadh: the air is tired after a six-hour flight and an intense training session prior to Appiano, but it won’t take much to regain their strength in view of the semi-final against Bologna. Meanwhile, cardamom coffee and dates for everyone, as per tradition, with the Head of Competitions, Andrea Butti, representing the Serie A League.

the inter protagonists

In the troop, the first to enter were Federico Dimarco and Alessandro Bastoni, followed by the others in no particular order: Lautaro and Marcus Thuram, the dream couple ready to reconnect, decided to stop and taste a sip, to the delight of the Saudi welcome committee. Cristian Chivu, on the other hand, only gave a polite smile, but then went directly onto the bus accompanied by the staff. There were also Hakan Calhanoglu and Matteo Darmian, the two injured members of the company, who got on the plane at the last minute and were one step away from returning: their help could be useful more for the eventual final than for the semi.

new faces

Also added to the new young talent to be discovered: for the occasion, in fact, the Romanian coach wanted to plunder Vecchi’s Under 23 team and, in addition to the goalkeeper Taho, the winger Cocchi and the defender Cinquegrano, he also granted the first call-up of his life to Iwo Kaczmarski, the Polish midfielder snatched from Empoli in the summer who is said to be very good. The group will obviously be led by the management staff, starting with president Beppe Marotta, sporting director Piero Ausilio and deputy sporting director Dario Baccin: in these days everyone together could meet an old friend who has moved here like Simone Inzaghi. Oaktree’s managers, however, could arrive in view of the match: Americans and Saudis are iron allies, as we know, and a trophy here far transcends football.
