Jamal Musiala suffers a heavy setback at the club World Cup. The national coach reacts affected-and sends a recovery wishes to the Bayern professional.
National coach Julian Nagelsmann said with great dismay to the serious injury to Jamal Musiala. “Jamal’s injury is a big shock for all of us. After he had just fought back on the pitch after his muscle injury,” said the 37-year-old after the diagnosis was announced by FC Bayern. “Our thoughts are with him.”
Musiala injured the FC Bayern quarter-finals against Paris Saint-Germain (0: 2) in Atlanta. After getting in hard from PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 22-year-old suffered a broken fibula and an ankle injury. According to the club, it must be operated on and will be missing for a long time.
This year Musiala will probably not be able to play a game for the national team this year. The DFB team will meet Slovakia, Northern Ireland and Luxembourg in September, October and November. There are a total of six qualification games. Only the group winner secures the direct ticket for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada (June 11th to July 19).
So far, Musiala has been on the pitch for the German national team 40 times. Together with Florian Wirtz, he is one of the central building blocks in the planning of Nagelsmann. But both offensive players could not play a international match this year.

Wirtz injured himself in March and missed the Nation’s League quarter-finals against Italy. In June, Musiala had to fit at the final round of the competition for a muscle injury. It was only to the club World Cup he gave his comeback for FC Bayern.
The World Cup in the coming summer is to become Musialas fourth big tournament in the DFB jersey-after the EM 2021, the World Cup 2022 and the home European Championships 2024. “Jamal can rely on the support of all of us in the national team,” said Nagelsmann. “We wish him all the best for the operation and a good and quick recovery.” That is now the most important thing, according to the national coach.
