The chairman of Vlaams Belang wanted to question Prime Minister Alexander De Croo about the break that Kitir takes. Earlier in the day, Van Grieken had already demanded her resignation. He pointed out that she was falsely pretending a mental illness to mask her incompetence. During question time, Van Grieken also attacked the minister personally.

Several banks reacted indignantly to the intervention. Vice-President Valerie Van Peel (N-VA) wiped out Van Greeks from her place. She took the floor during the reply of Van Grieken, which is in violation of the regulations.

Prime Minister De Croo confirmed that he has taken a KB to temporarily charge Deputy Prime Minister Frank Vandenbroucke with the powers of Kitir. “I am open to debate. We disagree on many levels. But the way you do that here, a personal attack against someone who can’t defend himself on the basis of a few newspaper articles, is below par”, says De Croo.

After his reply, Van Grieken refused to return to his seat for several minutes. He went to talk to the President of the House of Representatives Eliane Tillieux because she had had Van Peel pronounced against the rules of the House. He complained that there are apparently A MPs and B MPs.

Chamber president Tillieux called him to order. “Should I use force? I think that’s what you want,” Tillieux said. Peter De Roover (N-VA) criticized that it is precisely the intention of Van Grieken to wallow in a victim role.

A few minutes later, Question Time could continue.
