The FCK celebrated its 125th birthday with a ceremony, live music and the honor of the 91 master eleven. There were many Betzelgenders – including Otto Rehhagel and Kalli Feldkamp.
125 years 1. FC Kaiserslautern – an anniversary that is duly celebrated in the Palatinate. In the Fritz-Walter Stadium, former players, club managers, fans and guests came together to review the history of the association together.
Official ceremony: prominent guests and many memories
The start of the anniversary celebration started at the 1900 VIP level, where invited guests and well-known FCK faces reminded of the numerous milestones of the FCK. One of the most unforgettable moments: The year 1998when coaching legend Otto Rehhagel led the FCK to the German champion as a promoted. A success that remains unique to this day. “King Otto” combines many memories with the club – victories, defeats, a legendary mistake and, above all, numerous friendships:
“Fritz Walter, Ottmar Walter, Werner Liebrich – these were the heroes of my youth. If someone had told me that one day it will be some of your friends – incredible.” The 1954 FCK legends have now died. At the anniversary celebration, Rehhagel met numerous companions: “You are happy, that doesn’t happen every day,” says Rehhagel.
Trainer legend Otto Rehhagel – once a master maker in Kaiserslautern, today the guest of honor in the stadium.
One of them: Karl-Heinz “Kalli” Feldkamp. He not only celebrated the club’s 125th birthday, but also his own 91st birthday – and in 1991 he celebrated the championship with the 1st FCK.
A year earlier he won the DFB Cup with the red devils. That was recognized, with a standing ovation and a birthday serenade.
Kalli Feldkamp focuses on: For his birthday there was a standing ovation for the former FCK coach.
“Of course you are often asked where you felt most comfortable. Of course, this is clear when you have such a highlight. I like the Palatinate, my wife too. We always like to come here. I think it is a highlight for every trainer,” said Feldkamp.
Honor of the Championship team from 1991
The celebration was also the focus of the celebration from 1991, led by the then captain and later CEO Stefan Kuntz. Among others were Gerry Ehrmann, Axel Roos, Uwe Scherr, Roger Lutz and Miroslav Kadlec. “We have created a golden rule among us for tonight. There is no comment on our characters. That will be the prerequisite that we celebrate well,” joked Stefan Kuntz.
Honor for the masters: The 1991 FCK legends were appointed honorary members as part of the 125th anniversary.
Birthday song by “de anonymous Giddarischde” and the “Walter Elf”
The evening culminated in the hall of the Norbert-Thines North grandstand, which was completely sold out. Around 2,500 fans celebrated, and the 1991 championship team was recognized again. The celebration was accompanied by live music in a typical Palatinate manner – by the “Anonymous Giddarische” and the “Walter Elf”. A diabolical birthday for the FCK.
