1/2 Camper fair Rosmalen causes traffic jams on the A59

We Brabanders love to go out with our camper. But strangely enough, we did not have a fair where you can view the latest models in our province. Until now. Because the Camper Fair will be held this weekend at the Autotron in Rosmalen. And so many people came that there was a traffic jam on the A59 on Saturday.

Even before the exit to the Autotron, traffic was already at a standstill on the A59. And anyone who had not purchased a ticket in advance was out of luck, because the Camper Fair is completely sold out. Going out with a camper is more popular than ever, explains Patrick Drenthen from the fair. “It’s about freedom. You pitch a caravan for a longer period of time, with a camper you travel around. People can then go where they want.”

“You might wonder what it has to do with camping when you see some of the models.”

At the fair you can buy used campers, but also the latest models. You can make it as luxurious as you want, says Drenthen. “You may wonder what it has to do with camping when you see some models. They are fully equipped. They really have become houses on wheels.”

One of the visitors to the Camper Fair is Monique Bremer. She came all the way from Texel to Rosmalen. “I know the caravan life. But we now want to spend a holiday in a different way. More freedom and go wherever we want. Once we have bought a camper, we want to start with a trip through Europe.”

Heleen Dittrich and her sons Tammo (11) and Thijn (9) have already gone on holiday with the camper. “We come to take a look and get ideas. The great thing about this way of traveling is the freedom that you can always drive to the next place. So you get a lot of vacation in one trip.”

“Brabanders are all about fun and they are adventurous, which fits in with the whole camper thing.”

There are not only elderly people walking around at the fair. Because ‘vanlife’ is completely hip according to Drenthen. “People sell their home, quit their job, buy a camper van and travel for an indefinite period. These can be young couples, but also families with small children. You see the most beautiful pictures of this on Instagram.

According to Patrick Drenthen, our province has the most camper owners. And he has an idea why that happens. “Brabanders are all about fun and they are adventurous, which fits in with the whole camper thing.”

Campers have been extremely popular since the corona period. “People then had to be creative to go on holiday. As a result, we saw a huge spike in the sale and rental of campers. We thought that this would then decrease again, but the opposite is true.”
