“Image”: National player Süle leaves Bayern at the end of the season

Munich (dpa) – According to a report in the “Bild” newspaper, national soccer player Niklas Süle will not extend his contract with FC Bayern Munich and will leave the club at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old defender informed the record champions a few weeks ago that he would not extend the contract that expired in the summer. Süle switched from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to Munich in the summer of 2017 for around 20 million euros. As with David Alaba, Jérôme Boateng and Javi Martínez, Bayern would not collect a fee for Süle in the event of a change in the summer.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann had recently reported an offer from the club to Süle, which he did not accept. President Herbert Hainer had said on Sky at the weekend that it was up to Süle to accept the club’s offer. But the national player’s decision not to accept the offer with an improved annual salary has apparently already been made.

Barcelona, Newcastle and Chelsea probably interested

“He’s a player at an age and in a position that isn’t that common on the market,” said Nagelsmann, who knows Süle from Hoffenheim’s days. Recently there was speculation about an interest from FC Barcelona, Newcastle United and Chelsea FC.

Several defensive players are under discussion as possible additions for FC Bayern: Denis Zakaria (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen (both FC Chelsea). Their contracts are also running out, so they would not cost a transfer fee.

FC Bayern recently extended several contracts for players from the Süle generation. After the contract extensions with Joshua Kimmich (26 years/contract until 2025), Leon Goretzka (26/2026) and Kingsley Coman (25/2027), an expansion of the collaboration with Serge Gnabry (26) is also expected. His contract expires in the summer of 2023, that of Corentin Tolisso (27) and Süle after this season. The future of the French world champion is open.
