Iceta warns that if the RFEF does not take action against Rubiales, the CSD will

The Minister of Culture and Sport of SpainMiquel Iceta, warned this Wednesday that if the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) does not take action for the kiss on the mouth that its president, Luis Rubialesgave the player of the women’s team Jenni Beautiful after the World Cup final, the Higher Sports Council (CSD).

They have to make decisions. If the Federation does not take them, the CSD will“, the minister told EFE from India, where he is this week to attend the G20 ministerial meeting of Culture.

Iceta’s notice comes one day after the RFEF announced the urgent call, this Friday, for an Extraordinary General Assembly to deal with this matter.

An assembly about which the minister preferred not to anticipate events, although he stressed that from the CSD “all the mechanisms will be activated based on complaints already presentedprobably in the first days of next week”.

“We have a procedure that raises complaints (…) and from there the files are substantiated,” he explained, explaining that if the Federation does not comply with its duty, they will be the ones who consider transferring to the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) the case.

In this sense, The minister highlighted the role of the new Sports Law, which “intends to protect those rights and oblige all organizations, whether they are clubs, federations or national leagues, to take responsibility for watching over them.

Asked if they have contacted Hermoso, Iceta insisted that they would listen to his opinion on the incident, although returned to focus on the Federation by insisting on their responsibility to give an answer “that Spanish society claims to be an unacceptable fact”, and that tarnished the moment in which the women’s team touched “heaven”.

Rubiales’ kiss to Hermoso occurred last Sunday during the medal ceremony for the Spanish women’s soccer team, moments after they were proclaimed champions after beating England in the World Cup final held in Australia and New Zealand thanks to to a goal scored by Olga Carmona.
