RTL Boulevard presenter Luuk Ikink (40) will work less to spend more time with his family. He made this decision during the last summer vacation.
Luuk Ikink is a hard worker by TV standards: he has a five-day working week with a one-hour broadcast every day. By way of comparison: the place next to him at RTL Boulevard is filled by four different presenters. So they also work four times less than Luuk, but they themselves often see that as one full time track.
Luke diminishes
After seven years, Luuk now also decides to slow down a bit. “Listen Luuk, I heard that you will only do the podcast once every two weeks,” says colleague Eric de Munck to him in the BLVD Podcast.
Luke confirms the news. “Yes that’s right. We thought it would be a nice idea with my huge family that I have a little more time early in the morning to also pay attention to that.”
Wietze the Complainant
Colleague Rob Goossens is shocked. “Oh, is that the reason? Can I now call you Wietze de Jager?”
Wietze has been nicknamed ‘Wietze the Complainant’ by RTL Boulevard, because he wanted to work less at Radio 538 because of his family. Luuk: “Hahaha. It’s just the podcast. And I will continue to do it, but once every two weeks.”
Eric: “Have you told the listeners that Bridget is taking over the other week?”
Luuk: “No, we haven’t told you that yet. That’s nice, isn’t it?”
More Bridget
Who will replace Luke? Eric: “Here’s this: Bridget is going to do it with Rob that one week that you’re not there. And to complete the whole party, surprise: I will also be joining us in those weeks to just drag some Hollywood glamor into the podcast.
Rob: “I really like that.”
Luuk: “So you are actually going to provide the kind of American touch in our podcast. We leave that a bit in certain episodes and you come and deliver them once every two weeks.”
Eric: “Exactly, because of course you often don’t go beyond the border, you know. It stops a bit with the Netherlands, then it’s just done.”
