“I think my race is superior”: teacher fired after racist comments in class full of colored students in Texas | Abroad

Consternation at Bohls Middle School in Pflugerville, Texas, a fast-growing town northwest of Austin. During a lesson, a teacher states “that he is ethnocentric at heart”. “That means I think my race is superior,” says the white man in a class full of colored children.

One of the students films everything, after which the video goes viral and also ends up with the management. He initially suspends the teacher pending an investigation. A few days later, the man is also evicted.

“The video of the conversation contains statements that we find completely inappropriate,” says the management of the school umbrella. “The Pflugerville Schools Umbrella and Bohls Middle School work together to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for our students. The statements were inappropriate, inaccurate and unacceptable. This kind of interaction is not tolerated in our schools.”
