The handball players of HV Volendam were too strong for Bevo on Saturday evening. The team defeated the Limburgers 30-23 in its own sports hall Opperdam. Evert Kooijman quickly helped his team to the lead after the break and it was not given away.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half of the game. The score went from 5-5 to 11-11. In the end it was Guus van den Heuvel, who gave the Limburgers the lead just before half-time: 12-13.
The Volendam team never ran into problems in the second half. It was Evert Kooijman who equalized his team within a minute. Kooijman then also made 14-13 and the margin was quickly expanded to three hits. The victory was then no longer in danger and Volendam could easily finish: 30-23.
