Huntress (17) accidentally shoots hiker dead in France | Abroad

A 25-year-old hiker was killed yesterday afternoon in a hunting accident in the Cantal, the green heart of France. The trigger was pulled without malicious intent by a 17-year-old girl. She is now charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The tragic incident took place during a wild boar hunt in Cassaniouze. The victim was on a hiking trail with her partner when she was suddenly hit by a bullet. “She died on the spot. An autopsy will take place as soon as possible,” the prosecutor said.

According to Willy Schraen, the president of the French hunting federation, the huntress had completed training. “She tested negative for the use of drugs and alcohol. The signs announcing a hunt were reportedly placed correctly.”

“Rules are being refreshed”

The man is at the heart of it. “Even if the shot was fired by accident, nothing can justify the death of a person,” it said in a Facebook post. “Be aware that as hunters we use deadly weapons. The safety rules will be refreshed for everyone.”

“Be doubly careful in the future. Only shoot if you are sure there is no danger. And kick out hunters who don’t behave responsibly. This is about the future of our federation.”
