Hundreds demonstrate against Ukraine war in Berlin

Several hundred people demonstrated in Berlin on Saturday against the war in Ukraine.

Around 90 people gathered in front of the Russian embassy in the afternoon for a vigil organized by the “Demokrati-JA” initiative, the police said.

100 participants were registered. The action was themed “Putinists, you will pay for your crimes” to commemorate the war crimes committed in the Ukrainian city of Bucha by Russian troops.

At the same time, a demonstration marched from the Unter den Linden boulevard to Rosenthaler Platz under the slogan “No war but class war”.

The police reported “around 380 participants at the top” – 500 were registered.

The protests here were directed against the war and the military build-up of the two blocs, Russia and NATO.

Both meetings initially went smoothly, said a police spokeswoman on Saturday afternoon.
