Between 1925 and 1955 the estate was inhabited by the Harkema family, after which it came into the possession of the municipality of Assen. From 1960 the Groene Kruis was in the Lariks, where maternity carers were trained. In 1983 the building was the office of the VVV, to be renamed boarding school ten years later.

Since 2001, the estate has been in the possession of the Van de Pol family. Part of the building is also used by different companies. The Lariks has been a national monument since 1994. In the category Castles and country estates Assen only has two national monuments. The other is overcingel estate.

There is in abundance in any case. The country house is 650 square meters in size and has a plot of over 7,000 square meters. In total the house has 24 rooms, of which 15 bedrooms. The house also has three bathrooms and three kitchens. “This country house wholesalers in beautiful details such as beautiful carvings, original ceiling ornaments, richly decorated fireplaces and stylish paneling,” says the broker. “Every element tells a story that is characterized by craftsmanship, craftsmanship and attention to detail.”

The garden has also been considered. The design came from Jan Vroom Junior. Many of the original structures are still visible. “The design, with winding paths, lush planting and carefully placed ornaments, is aesthetic but also functional,” says the broker. Anyone who wants to see the original design can go to the Drents Archief.

A building of more than a hundred years naturally also requires a lot of maintenance. Until at least 2028 there is a subsidy on the Lariks to be able to carry out necessary maintenance. The building alone is not energy efficient. On average, gas consumption is around 7,000 cubic meters per year. The ground floor is insulated, but that does not apply to the roof and the attic. “Because the second floor is not used and is kept frost -free, it acts as a natural insulation.” The windows are also not isolated. “It is up to the future buyer to make the Lariks more sustainable,” said the broker.
