Hotel Tahko, located on Tahkovuori, has been subject to a data breach. The hotel has informed its customers about this by e-mail.
– Based on the information we received, an external party has managed to create a scam website, which looks similar to our Booking System. With this, he has even been able to bypass two-step identification and gained unauthorized access to our hotel system, the message sent to customers says.
An external party may have obtained the customers’ names and phone numbers, addresses, nationalities, dates of reservations, as well as the last four numbers and expiration dates of credit cards.
The data breach concerns reservations made for the period December 6, 2024-31. August 2025.

In its message, the company apologizes for what happened and announces that it has started to improve information security.
– We are very sorry for what happened and we sincerely apologize to all our customers and partners for the worry and resentment that may have been caused. We have taken immediate measures to improve our data security and have notified the data protection commissioner.
The hotel writes that in the future it will never ask customers for credit card information or personal information after booking online.
Iltalehti could not reach Hotel Tahko’s management on Wednesday afternoon. The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner confirms that Hotel Tahko Oy has reported a data breach on November 7.
The customer is waiting with excitement
In its message, Hotel Tahko urges customers to contact us without hesitation if they have any questions.
– We will help you with all related questions, the message says.
The customer who recently made a reservation says that he found the message in his email’s spam folder on Wednesday morning and that he tried to contact the hotel all day to get more information.
The customer says that he was surprised by the reservation system, where the reservation had to be confirmed with the driver’s license number. Now he would like to know what of his information has fallen into outside hands.
– I’m anxiously waiting to see what’s going on, whether invoices from the debt collection company will start coming in January.
Hotel Tahko is located at Tahkovuori in Nilsiä, Kuopio. The area is known as a popular skiing center.
