The fire broke out at 1.30 am. The Zaanstreek-Waterland Security Region reports that a lot of smoke is still released during the fire. A first NL-Alert was sent around 3.00 am and another warning was sent at 6 am. The Safety Region reports that the smoke is moving towards Neck and the A7 and goes over different residential areas.
Residents of that area are advised to stay out of smoke and keep windows and doors closed. It is also recommended to turn off mechanical ventilation. The fire brigade takes measurements in the area. The smoke can be smelled as far as Amsterdam according to the safety region.
Other color smoke
NH reporter Tom van Midden is in Middenbeemster and sees that the smoke has changed in color: from ink-black to gray. “According to the police, that can indicate that it will be slightly less.”
The fire is so large that Blues Teams from Amsterdam and Noord-Holland Noord have been called to assist with extinguishing. The police drone team was also deployed to get a good picture of the fire.
Primary school, childcare and BSO closed
Surrounding roads are closed to give the emergency services space. Neighboring companies cannot be reached either. Primary school De Blauwe Morgenster, daycare center Ootje Tontel and BSO & toddler care De Speelhut will remain closed today as a precaution.
The fire brigade expects to be busy with extinguishing all morning. It is not yet known whether there are victims because of the fire or how the fire originated.
