In mid -July it was said that a return of Adam Karabec (22) for another year at Hamburger SV was imminent. Only details should still be clarified. A good three weeks later, the situation looks very different. The offensive player of Sparta Prague is about to move to Olympique Lyon.
According to “L’équipe“The clubs have agreed on a loan including a purchase option, which should be 3.5 million euros. Lyon also attracts with the Europa League, but, unlike HSV, Karabec is more intended as a flexible back-up for the various offensive positions.
The Hamburgers had been too expensive for the purchase option of EUR 4.2 million last summer. Nevertheless, it looked like Karabec was staying at HSV. The red pants agreed with the player, with Sparta Prague it should only have been the exact height of the rental fee and purchase option. But at the end it didn’t come. The efforts for reinforcements for the defensive received priority.

Karabec had contributed three goals and seven templates in 31 missions on the way to return to the Bundesliga last season. He was able to increase his market value to 4 million euros during the loan from 3 million, but in the Juni update he had to accept a minus of EUR 1 million. “I would very much like to stay with HSV if it is possible,” Karabec underlined at the end of last season.
