HSV Hamburg celebrates a surprising away win against the German champions. Nicolaj Jörgensen decides the game in the final minute.
HSV Hamburg achieved a surprising 39:38 (18:18) away win in the handball Bundesliga against German champions Füchse Berlin on Sunday. Nicolaj Jörgensen scored nine goals for HSVH coach Torsten Jansen’s team, while Berlin’s Lasse Andersson scored twelve times.
The Hamburg team started strongly against the weakened Berliners, who could only muster eleven outfield players. After 15 minutes, the Hanseatic League led 11:8. The capital team fought back and turned the game around with a goal from Andersson to make it 16:14 in the 24th minute.
In the second half, Hamburg took the lead again at 28:27 in the 44th minute. The pace of the game increased increasingly. Jörgensen scored with a seven-meter shot to make it 33:32, Jacob Lassen extended the lead to 35:33.
The decisive factor was a technical error by Berlin’s Matthias Gidsel and Jörgensen’s ninth goal in the final minute, which secured Hamburg a deserved victory.
